Whitstable's Secret Smokery
Wander south from the harbour, through the back streets and alleyways of Whitstable's old fishing quarter and you might, if you're lucky, stumble upon a hidden smokehouse . . . .
Inspired by our country's rich culinary heritage, The Native Smokehouse produces a range of jolly fine cured fish, hand crafted and cold smoked in small batches using age-old techniques.
In addition to my curing and smoking business, the Native 'umbrella' includes a food blog dedicated to the promotion of English food and cookery.

Normal Opening Hours
Situated in the alleyway behind 45 Sydenham Street, the smokehouse shop is OPEN weekly, Wednesday to Saturday ~ 11.00am to 4.00pm and Sunday ~ 11.00am to 3.00pm (with exceptions for local farmers markets on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays and the last Sunday of each month ~ see table below under Farmers Markets).
PLEASE NOTE: The smokehouse shop will be CLOSED from Sunday 9th November to Friday 14th November inc. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Christmas Orders:
The Native's Christmas order book is now open, with orders taken on a strictly first come first served basis.
Orders for fresh-cured part or whole sides of smoked salmon will be available for collection during published opening hours from 11am on Monday 22nd December. Orders for my regular vacuum packed products (inc. vacuum packed part sides) will be ready for collection from 11am on Friday 19th December. All orders must be collected by midday on Christmas Eve. Please note, as capacity is limited, only Alder Smoked Salmon will be available to order as a fresh-cured product for collection Christmas week and my Oak Smoked Haddock will only be available as a frozen product in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
To place your Christmas order, please go to the SHOP page and complete the ORDER FORM located at the bottom of the page. To keep things fair and simple, orders will only be accepted via the website, or in person, and I will endeavour to confirm website orders within 24 hours. Sorry, but orders sent via Instagram/Facebook messaging services will NOT be accepted.
